There are many reasons why some people want to use sex hormones in place of or instead of testosterone.
I have many years of experience in the field of hormonal medicine. In the past decade, I've studied and studied the science of hormone therapy, sex hormone treatment, and sex hormone replacement therapy. In the early 1980s, I had an interest in sex hormone products, and began selling the products of a company called Endocrine Therapeutics. In the 1990s, I became interested in using sex hormone products for other reasons, including because of my work as a counselor and psychotherapist for transsexuals. I found that many of the hormones that I recommended were being used by people who had been through therapy for gender identity disorder (GID) but were not satisfied with the results of that therapy. I found that the products that were most popular at the time were the estrogens, and that some of the most popular were the estradiol and progesterone preparations. For example, the products I recommended were the progestin preparations and the estradiol. I knew that these products would work very well, but I wasn't sure how well. I wanted to test the products on myself, and to see if I would find that they really did help.
